Arcoxia, with the generic name of Etoricoxib, works by relieving joint or chronic diseases that cause pain, swelling, stiffness, and inflammation.
Arcoxia Indications
Arcoxia is specially formulated to treat:
- Osteoarthritis

- Musculoskeletal pain
- Gout attacks

Arcoxia belongs to a class of drugs known as FDA Pregnancy Category C. This entails that its effects to an unborn child is not known. Should you be pregnant or planning to be while under treatment with Arcoxia, inform your doctor immediately.
It is also not known if Arcoxia passes into breast milk. Nursing mothers are therefore advised to see their doctor before taking this drug.
Upper gastrointestinal complications [perforations, ulcers or bleedings (PUBs)], some of them resulting in fatal outcome, have occurred in patients treated with etoricoxib.
Caution is advised with treatment of patients most at risk of developing a gastrointestinal complication with NSAIDs; the elderly, patients using any other NSAID or acetylsalicylic acid concomitantly or patients with a prior history of gastrointestinal disease, such as ulceration and GI bleeding.
Arcoxia Intake Instructions
Arcoxia must be taken as directed by your doctor. If there is any instruction that appears unclear to you, ask your doctor, nurse, or pharmacist.
Each tablet is taken whole with a full glass of water. It is not a stomach irritant so it can be taken on a full or empty stomach.
To get the most benefit of Arcoxia, use it at the same scheduled time each day.
Arcoxia Missed Dose
Unless directed by your doctor, Arcoxia must not be double dosed. If you happen to miss a dose, take it as soon as you remember as long as it is not almost time for the next scheduled dose. Otherwise, skip missed dose and proceed with the next.
Arcoxia Overdose
If symptoms of over dosage are suspected, seek proper medical attention.In clinical studies, administration of single doses of etoricoxib up to 500 mg and multiple doses up to 150 mg/day for 21 days did not result in significant toxicity. There have been reports of acute overdosage with etoricoxib, although adverse experiences were not reported in the majority of cases. The most frequently observed adverse experiences were consistent with the safety profile for etoricoxib (e.g. gastrointestinal events, cardiorenal events).
